Our Mill Pond and the decking that surrounds it was established in 1978, after the original mill pond broke its banks in a storm in 1968. For 44 years this pond has captivated the hearts and minds of generations of local children as they have pond dipped for tadpoles, newts, frogs, water boatmen, snails and other pond wildlife. As these children have become parents and grandparents, they bring their children to experience nature and enjoy the brook, the pond and the nature reserve.
Regular visitors will have noticed a decline in the pond over the last few years. The pond has silted up, the water has become foul, and the pond is leaking. If the pond is not saved now, it is likely it will dry up completely and the staging around the pond and the brook will become unsafe.
We are desperately seeking at least £4,000 from local donations towards repairs, to restore this pond before its too late.
Thank you for taking the time to read, and any donation will be greatly appreciated.
